US equities in retreat after weak Consumer Spending

FXstreet.com (New York) – The US stock market experienced a mixed mostly lower opening Friday, on the heels of generally weak data.

In the United States, Personal Spending (July) grew only +0.1%, missing estimates of +0.3%. Moreover, Core Personal Consumption Expenditure – Price Index (YoY) yielded a figure of +1.2% in July, matching expectations.

Beginning with the indices and composites, today the NASDAQ fell -0.19% as it settles in region of 3613.52, down -6.84 points in these moments.
